Our Commitment to Accessibility
Applix Appliance Repair is committed to ensuring digital accessibility for people with disabilities. We are continually improving the user experience for everyone and applying the relevant accessibility standards to ensure we provide equal access to all users.
Accessibility Standards
This website strives to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA. These guidelines, published by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C), explain how to make web content more accessible to people with a wide range of disabilities, including visual, auditory, physical, speech, cognitive, and neurological disabilities.
WCAG 2.1 Level AA is the standard referenced by the U.S. Department of Justice in its 2024 final rule on web accessibility and is widely recognized by courts as the benchmark for ADA compliance.
Conformance Status
This website is partially conformant with WCAG 2.1 Level AA. "Partially conformant" means that some parts of the content do not fully conform to the accessibility standard. We are actively working to identify and address any remaining barriers.
Measures We Have Taken
Applix Appliance Repair takes the following measures to ensure accessibility of our website:
- Semantic HTML: We use proper heading hierarchy (H1–H6), landmark regions, and semantic elements to ensure screen readers can navigate our content effectively.
- Keyboard navigation: All interactive elements — buttons, links, form fields, and navigation menus — are accessible via keyboard.
- Color contrast: Text and interactive elements meet or exceed the WCAG 2.1 AA minimum contrast ratio of 4.5:1 for normal text and 3:1 for large text.
- Form accessibility: All form inputs have associated labels, error messages are announced to screen readers via
role="alert", and required fields are clearly indicated. - Alternative text: Images include descriptive alt text. Decorative images are marked with empty alt attributes or implemented as CSS backgrounds.
- Touch targets: All interactive elements have a minimum touch target size of 44×44 pixels for mobile users.
- ARIA attributes: We use ARIA labels, roles, and descriptions where native HTML semantics are insufficient.
- Responsive design: Our website adapts to different screen sizes and supports text resizing up to 200% without loss of content or functionality.
Known Limitations
Despite our best efforts, some parts of this website may not be fully accessible. We are aware of the following limitations and are actively working to resolve them:
- Embedded Google Maps: The Google Maps iframe on our About page may not be fully accessible to screen reader users. We provide our full address in text format as an alternative.
- Third-party content: Some third-party embedded content (such as maps or social media widgets) may have accessibility limitations outside our direct control.
- Older browser support: Some accessibility features may not work correctly in older browsers. We recommend using the latest version of Chrome, Firefox, Safari, or Edge.
